Garden Design Case Study – Caversham

<< Back

This project was completed in Spring 2020 and involved a complete transformation of the area as you can see in the photos below. The client had the garden designed  professionally by Katy Bott and then liaised with Owen in order to get the dream garden they wanted.

The whole garden was excavated and due to the hard chalk , digger work was required to clear everything out. This included ground clearance and excavation of the current decking, fence, concrete steps, asphalt path, banked lawn, shed, plants and any unwanted debris.
The whole area was then levelled and tiered to match the design.

A series of retaining walls were built using good quality pressure treated softwood sleepers. These were supported by hidden posts concreted into the ground and strong timber fixing screws.

A patio was installed using Bradstone Indian Sandstone paving slabs.

A series of 6 steps were installed  to link the low level of the garden. They were faced by bricks similar to the current wall, run the width of the doors, laid just under the threshold of the door and were topped with the same slabs as the patio.

A timber pergola was built above the top patio giving a lovely entertaining area in the garden with space for a BBQ and dining table and chairs.

Owen and his team also provided gravel areas, a new lawn and new planting borders.

The client was amazed at how the garden is now the focus of their house and say they can’t stop looking at it.

We hope they can enjoy it for many years to come.
