Eastheath Avenue Summer 24
After ground clearance and excavation of the current patio slabs, decking, sleepers, back lawn, front hedge, side fencing, front lawn, front wall and all shrubs and overgrowth, work on this Wokingham project could begin.
A retaining wall was built between the edge of the new patio and lawn using good quality soft wood sleepers with decorative gravel in between. 3 separate steps up on to the lawn were incorporated along the wall.
The new larger patio area included a square patio at the back, side path and patio along the front of the house and garage, measuring 130m² using 900cm by 600cm QUARTZ BURNT ESSENCE porcelain paving slabs. The patio was laid in a staggered pattern with the rain water draining away from the house with a shingle gap installed where needed against the sleepers and fence line. Each individual slab was pre-sealed underneath with SBR Bonding agent before being laid. The patio was cleaned and then finished with a strong and consistent exterior grouting mix.
The far right hand corner of the garden had two fence panels replaced and had the same patio slabs laid in the area to make it more usable for the children.
The new area of lawn had the soil rotovated a number of times with any debris such as large stones and roots removed from site. Good quality screened top soil was then brought in. The soil was raked level and compacted in preparation for the installation of 150m² of high quality turf.
Two new rows of close board fencing was installed on both sides of the driveway. Good quality pressure treated timber was used for the rails and the feather boards which were nailed individually. The finished height of the fence is 6ft with a concrete gravel board attached to the concrete posts. The total length of the fence is approximately 56 metres
Two new good quality pressure treated closed board gates were installed on either side of the house.
New planting borders were created in front of the new fence. Fresh organic matter was added and dug over and levelled in preparation for planting.
A new Photonia x Frasieri Louise hedge was planted at an equal distance of each other to leave a nice tidy finish within the new border.
The edge of the new border with the driveway was established by re-laying the current block pavers.
A new five bar gate was installed as the main entrance to the driveway. The same fencing was then installed between the gate and the new fence
The new extended area of driveway was excavated down to a sufficient level, membrane pinned into place, MOT TYPE 1 compacted down and then 10mm shingle brought in and raked level with the existing gravel driveway.
