Landscape Case Study – Finchampstead

<< Back

This is our latest project completed in March 2018 that completely changed the garden after a new Orangery was built.

The first issue that had to be tackled was of rampant Bamboo that had engulfed the garden. Two days were spent at the beginning of the project digging it out with the use of an excavator and a lot of hard graft.

The main objective of this design was to compliment the new extension and make the garden more practical whilst also being aesthetically pleasing. This was achieved by building two large steps in a colour that matched the new bi-fold doors. The most appropriate material we found was part of the Monsoon sandstone range supplied by Global stone. These slabs were then used for the side path and main patio that also incorporated a circle which has given the patio more depth.

The matching bricks of the steps were then used to build a bespoke purpose built BBQ that faced towards the main patio area. This BBQ included a storage area and useful shelves constructed with paving slabs.

To add some height to the garden a curved timber pergola was constructed along a curved slated path that takes you up the garden to stepping stones up towards the corner summerhouse. A raised sleeper wall and bed was also built which defines the main patio area.

Long sweeping curved borders have also been installed using metal edging that gives the garden a less formal look and will be great for the planting of a huge range of plants that will give structure and colour throughout the year.
